Volunteer positions: Working Group

We are doing a call-out for new members and volunteers. Members join the Working Group, attend monthly meetings and typically put in about ten hours a month. Volunteers can have a specific focus and provide assistance and help in particular portfolios. Each portfolio is led by a Working Group member, and we all work closely across our portfolios to achieve our goals. We are particularly interested in new members with an interest in the following portfolios below and have provided a downloadable PDF copy of each role’s position description. While these are volunteer roles, they are volunteer positions on the working group and require prior experience. Please read through these PDs for detailed information and expectations from these roles:

  • Treasurer/Finance – we are looking for a Treasurer, as well as members or volunteers with finance experience. The Treasurer oversees our finances, and provides regular reports to the Working Group. The Treasurer provides advice on our annual budget and manages the annual audit process. This portfolio would suit people with finance or accounting experience and/or previous experience as a treasurer for a small not for profit organisation. Position Description: ZBGC Treasurer PD
  • IT – managing our back of house IT supports, including our email system, online Project Management system (WordPress) and website. We are looking for people with good IT skills and attention to detail. Position Description
  • Events – organising events, from ideas through to delivery. We are excited about running more events, which could include documentary screening fundraisers, launches, social events and our AGM. We are looking for people with event management experience and enthusiasm, who can build relationships with members of the community and our partners. Position Description: ZBGC Events Role PD
  • Fundraising – coordinating marketing and campaigns to raise funds for the Gender Centre. This will include a crowd funding campaign, as well as identifying other potential funding and sponsorship opportunities. This portfolio should appeal to people with marketing, sponsorship and fundraising experience, and who have energy and enthusiasm to kick-start fundraising. Position Description: ZBGC Fundraising Role PD
  • Grant-writing – writing, preparing and submitting grant applications, as well as researching grant opportunities and meeting with potential funders. We are looking for people with experience in grant writing, excellent written and verbal communication skills and proven time management skills. Position Description: ZBGC Grant Writing Role PD
  • Projects– managing projects run by ZBGC with the assistance from the ZBGC Working Group and potential volunteers. Requirements of the role include gathering all project information: schedules, data requests, assignments, tasks, and project meetings and reporting to the WG. Position Description: ZBGC Projects Role PD

 

Additional experience may include

While we are currently not looking for portfolio leads for these areas, we welcome people who may have additional interests alongside the above roles that require filling. We are always looking for volunteers who may have interests in these areas as projects develop.
